Surprise! Nashville Zoo's clouded leopard thought to be a male is actually a female

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — The Nashville Zoo made a surprising discovery about its 9-month-old clouded leopard.

Zookeepers just discovered Niran, who they thought was a he -- is actually a she.

The zoo says they noticed a difference in how Niran was developing compared to her playmate Kuso, and after closer examination they confirmed their suspicions.

Niran is the first clouded leopard to be born from artificial insemination.
