FISH Window Cleaning workers put on the costumes on Thursday morning.

Dave Cotter, the owner, said he sees it as a way to bring smiles to children’s faces during a difficult time.

Shady Reyes, the clinical manager of pediatric intensive care unit at Hasbro Children's Hospital, said the children were “super excited” for the surprise outside the window.

Being in the hospital is never easy for any child or their parents,” Reyes said. “So, things like this get to bring joy and happiness to our kids and bring smiles to their faces and it allows them to forget for a brief second where they are and the stressful situation they’re in and just be kids.”

She said the children were told there was a surprise out the window at 10 a.m., but were not told about the superheroes waiting for them.

They are doing their jobs and also making the kids smile, so its two for one," Reyes said. "It is extremely important to support the emotional side. Supporting their emotions and mental health is an extremely important part of healing and so as important as it is to deal with the medical, it is as well to do with the emotional side of it."
