Starbucks offering free coffee for front-line workers for the entire month of December

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — Starbucks is saying thank you to front-line workers with some sips of kindness this month.

The popular coffee chain is giving away free coffee to all front-line workers for the entire month of December.

“It has been an extraordinarily difficult year, especially for the front-line responders who are serving our communities,” said Virginia Tenpenny, Starbucks vice president, Global Social Impact. “We want to show our deep gratitude for those who support and protect us every day with a small gesture of kindness and a cup of coffee.”

Now, to give them a boost, Starbucks is offering a free tall hot or iced coffee through Dec. 31.

According to the company, front-line responders who are eligible for free coffee include "health care providers, first responders including: doctors, nurses, public health workers, pharmacists, dispatchers, firefighters, paramedics, police officers, dentists and dental hygienists, mental health workers (therapist, psychologist, social worker, counselor, etc.), hospital staff such as janitor/housekeeping/security, and active-duty military."

Starbucks also donated $100,000 to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) which helps support mental health resources for front-line responders. It also plans on surprising 50,000 front-line responders with care packages and Starbucks gift cards this holiday season.
