How do you move your almost 200-pound dog when he is injured in a canyon?
You don't. You call for help.
Floyd is a mastiff who was injured about two miles up Grandeur Peak Trail in Millcreek Canyon. After several hikers called Unified Police, Salt Lake County Sheriff's Search and Rescue went up the canyon to get the dog, according to its Facebook page.
The rescue team wanted to "make sure Floyd could get off the mountain with his human before it got too cold," on Sunday night.
Floyd was loaded onto a litter and carried down the mountain, and fortunately, didn't put up a fuss.
"Floyd was a good boy and was happy to be assisted," the Facebook post from the all-volunteer team said of the 190-pound dog.
The team made it off the mountain around 10:30 p.m.
"Hopefully, Floyd will be up and hiking again soon!"
The team is made up entirely of volunteers and those wishing to donate tool to help can go to saltlakesearchandrescue.org/donation/.
