The San Antonio Zoo will offer a new experience to zoo-goers this weekend with a drive-thru experience.

The zoo has remained closed during the pandemic, which has caused financial stress on the longtime attraction. The San Antonio Zoo relies almost completely on revenue generated by admissions at the gate and on private donors.

The Drive Thru Zoo will be open May 1-3; admission is $40 per car for non-pass holders and $30 for pass-holders.*
*The San Antonio Zoo has since revised the pricing schedule. Visit the San Antonio Zoo website for current prices.

Vehicles are limited to those about the size of a Chevy Tahoe.

"This is a very unique and safe way for families to see the zoo while we are closed from the comfort of their own car," said Tim Morrow, President & CEO San Antonio Zoo. "Proceeds from this event will help fund the care of our animals through this closure. This new, creative way to see the zoo will be a gradual step towards our plan to reopen to foot traffic when we are given the 'green light' and the time is right."

There will be a guided audio tour and food and beverage options will be made available curbside.

San Antonio Zoo CEO Tim Morrow also put out this Tweet showing how popular and crowded the attraction has become!
