SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) - A new vaccine debuted at the Salt Lake County Health Department on April Fools' Day.

The department announced a “Porn Vaccine” on its Twitter and Facebook pages Saturday morning, promising an “80-percent immunity against porn after the first dose.”

The satirical announcement goes on to say that the vaccine attacks porn-addicted cells and is the result of months of clinical trials.

“The difference has been night and day, two painless shots and I no longer have the urge,” one of the posts claims a man named John B. of Salt Lake County said.

The department also cites a “University Researcher” who claims the vaccine is available for anyone 12 years and older.

The April Fools' post appears to jab at Utah state leaders who last year declared pornography a “public health crisis.”

The Health Department says development of the Porn Vaccine began in April 2016, the same month the Utah Legislature signed the public health crisis declaration.

At the time, Gov. Gary Herbert compared pornography to drugs and alcohol prior to signing the non-binding resolution.

After porn was declared a public health crisis in Utah, Penthouse magazine sent copies of its sexually explicit magazines to Utah state leaders.

The post went up on the Salt Lake County Health DepartmentFacebook page around 10:30 a.m. and by 1 p.m. had more than 50 shares.
