'Real life' SpongeBob SquarePants, Patrick Star spotted by NOAA diver

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) spotted creatures similar to SpongeBob SquarePants and Patrick Star while out on a recent dive.

It may not have been in a pineapple under the sea, but the creatures did resemble the popular Nickelodeon characters who portray best friends.

The discovery came on a July 27 livestream.

"I normally avoid these refs..but WOW. REAL LIFE Sponge bob and Patrick," marine biologist Dr. Christopher Mah wrote on Twitter.
