Portland woman gets python stuck in her gauge piercing

PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) - A Portland woman's gauge piercing mishap is making national headlines this week.

Ashley Glawe had her pet ball python wrapped around her shoulders last month when it lunged toward her ears and got stuck in her gauge piercing.

"I tried to get him out myself, and I knew I wasn't going to be able to without hurting him by pulling back against his scales," Glawe told CNN.

First responders were unable to free the snake, so Glawe had to go to the emergency room.

"They put string or something in between my ear and the snake and stretched my ear out more, then pulled him back through, and all was well," Glawe told CNN.
