FELLSMERE, Fla. (WPEC) - A woman tried to sneak a crack pipe into the Indian River County Jail by hiding it in her vagina, but got stopped at the security scanner, according to Fellsmere Police.

The ordeal began when a police officer pulled over a car at North Willow Street and 100th Place for a traffic violation on Tuesday afternoon.

One officer at the scene noticed the woman in the passenger seat step out of the car for a moment, then climb back in.

The officer noticed a small baggie next to her. It contained cocaine, according to police who tested the substance at the scene.

The woman, identified as Tiffany Lynn Flores of Vero Lake Estates, was arrested. Her 4-year-old daughter was in the backseat of the car. She was released to a relative.

Police took Flores to the Indian River County Jail.

According to police, she initially told jailers she couldn't go through the security scanner because she was pregnant. Authorities gave her a test that showed she wasn't.

The staff made Flores walk through the scanner and that's when a staffer noticed an object concealed in the woman's vagina. Staff moved Flores to a jail cell where she removed the crack pipe.

Flores is facing charges for possession of drug paraphernalia and tampering with evidence.
