EAST GREENWICH, R.I. (TND) — A Rhode Island woman is making the best of a snow day.
Stacey Forbes, of East Greenwich, made a snow sculpture on her front lawn Tuesday and sent images to WJARNews.
Southern New England got hit with its first major snowstorm of the season.
Some parts of the state got about four inches of snow and others saw at least seven inches.
For those of you who are living in the Northeast, we finally got a little bit of snow," Forbes said in a video.
Forbes decided to make the most of the winter weather and played in the snow. She crafted a man's face with big blue eyes.
"My hands are freezing, but this is my creation today," Forbes said. "This is George. Say hi, George. George is our friendly snowman. Hope you're having a good day. Stay creative!"
While one photo shows her smiling next to George, another shows her puckering up and kissing his cheek.
Other viewers also sent WJAR images, with some showing their children and pets enjoying the snow.
East Providence Mayor Bob DaSilva said the mild winter has been great for the city's budget this season.
"This year has been pretty good on the budget, this being the first significant snowfall that we've had we feel that our people handle it well and we still have enough money to deal with any unsuspecting snowstorms coming up," DaSilva said.
But the morning commute wasn't easy for some people in the region.
Side roads in Southern New England were snow-covered. The storm also disrupted flights at Rhode Island T.F. Green International Airport in Warwick.
The beginning of meteorological spring officially starts on Wednesday.
