FARMINGTON, Utah (KUTV) - A Farmington, Utah, man says the mascot for a new high school has got to go because he claims the mascot and its nickname are an open invitation for humiliation.

"The whole thing is kind of funny," Kyle Fraughton said. "I understand that this is not the most serious thing in the world."

But while he sees the humor, he is also serious about the name change. The new school will take the phoenix as its mascot and he is worried that the plural of phoenix will saddle the students and school with a terrible nickname. Some forms of the plural of school mascot phoenix rhyme with penises.

So far, 3,000 people have signed the petition. 2News' Chris Jones has the story in the video player above.
