BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCIV) - A pair were arrested on drug charges after Berkeley County deputies pulled over a car and the female driver gave them a fake name, which came back as a person with warrants.

“Should you ever find yourself stopped by law enforcement and you choose to give them a false name, make sure that the person is not wanted,” Berkeley County deputies wrote on their Facebook page.

Driver Kimberly Inez McClam, 32, of Taylors Way in Woodlawn, and passenger David George Epps, 40, of Pandora Drive in Sangaree, and were arrested May 2 after deputies found drugs and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. McClam was also driving under a suspended license.

The COPS Grant deputies assigned to the Community Action Team of the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office were working near Parkway Village Apartments in Sangaree when they observed a white Chevrolet Impala with a temporary tag.

The subsequent traffic stop resulted in the driver providing a name that was not hers. The name she provided came back to a person with warrants.

Epps told the deputies that he had 25 tablets of hydrocodone pills that were not prescribed to him.

Epps was arrested and found to have a pair of brass knuckles in his pocket. The substance that Epps had was field tested presumptive to be methamphetamines.

The Impala contained multiple meth pipes, scales and other drug paraphernalia.

McClam was found to be driving under suspension. She was arrested and charged with driving under suspension and providing false identity to law enforcement.

Epps was charged for the drug and weapons violations. Both were transported to the Hill Finklea Detention Center pending a bond hearing.

Coincidentally, both were on probation and have the same probation officer.

That probation officer was notified as the conduct that resulted in these arrests violates the terms of their probation.
