A childhood favorite will soon be just a memory after the manufacturer announced Fruit Stripe Gum is being discontinued.

Ferrara Candy confirmed the news to Food & Wine saying "We made the difficult decision to sunset Fruit Stripe Gum, but consumers may still be able to find the product at select retailers nationwide."

"The decision to sunset this product was not taken lightly, and we considered many factors before coming to this decision, including consumer preferences, and purchasing patterns," the manufacturer continued to say.

First introduced in the 1960s, the nostalgic candy is well-known for its iconic rainbow packaging with a cartoon zebra named Yipes.

Shortly after the news was released, fans took to social media to express their shock.

"A piece of my childhood just died," one user wrote on Reddit.

With another saying, "The wildest three-second ride that your tastebuds ever knew."

Another fan-favorite treat, the Choco Taco, was discontinued in 2022 after nearly 40 years.

The product featured ice cream spooned into a sugar cone "shell," doused in chocolate and topped with chopped peanuts.
