BURLINGTON, Ky. (WKRC) - "Boone County Sheriff's Office has the best police officers!" says one mom in Northern Kentucky after an act of kindness made her daughter's day.

Brittany Crizer of Burlington took to social media on Sunday after an officer took time out of his day to give a gift to her 2-year-old daughter Shkylar. It was a teddy bear.

"I walked out to my car because I forgot her sippy cup in the car, and this officer was walking away from a call, seen her at the door step, and asked me/her to hold on a moment. He then got into his trunk and got this beautiful teddy out and gave it to her. Now she is just overwhelmed with joy. Thank you!" wrote Crizer in a Facebook post."My heart is so full right now!"

Crizer identified the kind officer as Boone County Sergeant Dover. She says that he made little Shkylar's day with the gift.

Sgt. Carl Dover has been with the Boone County Sheriff’s Office since 2003. He says keeping a stocked trunk of toys and stuffed animals is part of the job.

“Normally when we go to places, people don’t want to see us. So anytime that we get a chance to do something like that, especially with a child, that’s what the job is about; that’s the awesome part of it,” said Dover.

Dover had finished a run at the Burlington Terrace Apartments when he spotted Shkylar sitting on her front steps.

From that point on, Crizer says “Teddy Bear” never left her sight.

“She was super excited; we went back into the house. She had to take a nap with Teddy; she had to play with Teddy; everything she did, Teddy had to do,” said Crizer.

The Boone County Sheriff's Office shared Crizer's post, adding that they are "proud to serve the community."

Now, Crizer is hoping to give something back. She has offered to pick up donations of stuffed animals and teddy bears so that she can give them to the Boone County Sheriff's Office and help spread the love.

“We need more people like that,” said Dover. “Anybody that for a such small act of kindness, it started something. So that I’m happy for."

"[I'm] so happy the Boone County Sheriff's Office shared my daughter's story. Everybody, please share this to get the word out that I will be picking up donations, today [Sunday], Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday for the Boone County Sheriff's Office to show my appreciation. If you have any teddies you would like to donate, please send me a private message with your address or a meeting spot. If you have nothing to donate, please simply share this, thank you!" wrote Crizer in a Facebook post.
