Police release name of woman suspected of attempted bank robbery with water gun

AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) - Amarillo police have released the name of the woman they say tried to rob an Amarillo National Bank while armed with a water gun Tuesday afternoon.

Police said 31-year-old Lashondra Deniece Sandoval-Martin was booked into the Potter County Jail for aggravated robbery and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle following the attempted robbery at the bank, which is located at 712 N. Taylor St.

Sandoval-Martin is accused of walking into the bank around 2:30 p.m., armed with what ended up being a water gun, and attempting to rob the bank, the Amarillo Police Department (APD) said.

According to APD, Sandoval-Martin was caught outside the bank. She was getting into a white Dodge pickup that had been stolen just moments before the attempted robbery.

In September 2016, Sandoval-Martin was arrested in Randall County for inhumane treatment of an animal, along with traffic offenses. She was also arrested in 2015 for inhumane treatment of an animal, along with other animal-related charges.
