SCHENECTADY, NY (WRGB) — It was an exciting morning at CBS6 when morning show anchor Olivia Jaquith went into labor just before the newscast and STILL ANCHORED THE SHOW!!
Olivia is welcoming her first baby, a boy, with her husband, Tyn.
Her co-anchor, Julia Dunn, said Olivia’s water broke around 4:15 in the morning. Still, and in true journalist fashion, Olivia remained calm, poised, and determined to continue doing what she loves - delivering the news to our Capital Region community in what turned out to be truly distinctive and determined.
Despite being in early labor, Olivia anchored the full morning broadcast. Her co-anchors jokingly said she even managing to sneak in a yogurt. Her strength, humor, and professionalism in the midst of such a life-changing moment were nothing short of inspiring.
Jaquith, a Niskayuna native who returned home last Spring to take a reporting job at WRGB, was two days past her due date when she went into labor.
She first announced the pregnancy in February after running the Disney Princess Half-Marathon in Florida with her sister.
We couldn’t be more thrilled for them. From her on-air pregnancy announcement earlier this year to running a half-marathon while expecting, Olivia has met every stage of this journey with grace and grit. Today was no exception,” said News Director Stone Grissom. “Olivia’s passion for storytelling, love for her hometown, and commitment to our viewers have always been evident. We’re overjoyed to soon welcome our newest (and tiniest!) member.
Their baby is the second of the CBS6 summer baby boom, with JT Fetch and his wife Samantha welcoming their first baby over the weekend.
