Md. couple allegedly finds live scorpion in bag of spinach

CHEVY CHASE, Md. (WJLA) - A Maryland couple says they found a live scorpion inside a bag of spinach that was purchased in a Giant food store on Friday in Chevy Chase, Maryland.

Shanmukha Pranay Rajeev Jerripothula says he found the scorpion when he opened the bag of spinach on Monday.

Jerripothula says he reached out to the store and asked it to stop selling the spinach and says it refused.

Jerripothula sent ABC7 News the video and photos above.

Giant Food of Landover, Maryland sent ABC7 a statement:

"Customer satisfaction is our highest priority. We regret any inconvenience to our customer. We take the quality of our products very seriously and we are following up with the supplier to take every step to ensure this isolated incident does not occur in the future."
