COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (WKRC) - A man's life was saved by wearing a necklace that stopped a bullet that could have likely killed him.

Commerce City Police Department said in a Facebook post that the only likely reason a man was still alive was because of a silver chain. The necklace is about ten millimeters wide.

"We'd say he really dodged a bullet-- but in reality, he LODGED a bullet," police wrote.

Police said the victim was in an argument that ended with the other person shooting him in the neck. The suspect was arrested at the scene and faces homicide charges.

Because of the necklace, he only suffered a puncture wound.

The police also said the necklace was not likely pure silver and that people should "maybe think twice before you knock a knockoff."

"Side note-- we don't know what kind of metal this is, but it's likely not pure silver. We looked it up... and silver is soft. So maybe think twice before you knock a knockoff. Just incredible."
