Man celebrates 106th birthday, surrounded by friends and family in California

FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) — Family and friends gathered to celebrate a California man’s 106th birthday.

Paul Thompson, of Fresno, said he’s legally blind, has a decent memory, and plays a mean game of pool.

Thompson also shared his secret to a long, happy life.

Hard work and clean living, best I can say, that’s all I had to do all my life,” he said. “I had to work hard to make a living and that’s what all my friends have done, too.”

Thompson worked hard and now he’s enjoying life to the fullest.

He celebrated his big day Sunday, surrounded by friends and family.

Photos show him enjoying a game of billiards, as well as smiling with loved ones.

Thompson sported a tie that read, "Aged to perfection," along with a hat deigned to look like a birthday cake topped with candles.
