SILVERTON, Ohio (WKRC) — A young woman living with spina bifida is making a huge difference with her cheesecake business.
When the open sign flashes on at Just Brew Coffee House in Silverton, guests will be able to pick up a cup of coffee and now one of Maggie's Marvelous Mini Cheesecakes.
You probably remember former Bengals quarterback Ken Anderson; his Ken Anderson Alliance runs the Just Brew Coffee House.
The nonprofit's mission is to give adults with disabilities opportunities just like anyone else.
Ken Anderson helps people with disabilities find jobs and get out in the community," said Maggie Neumann, owner of Maggie's Marvelous Mini Cheesecakes.
Neumann is not letting Spina Bifida stop her from living out her dream of being a baker.
WKRC's Chelsea Sick met her back in October to talk about the cheesecake business she has been running at her home since 2020. KAA's Pamela Cobb heard Neumann's story and wanted to get her involved at Just Brew.
I found your interview with Maggie that you did with her last year so I reached out to her to see if she would like to collaborate with her mini cheesecakes for our event for Autism Rocks and also sell them here in our coffee shop," Cobb said.
20 percent of the cheesecake sales at Just Brew, and the ones Maggie sells from home, will go to the Ken Anderson Alliance Autism Rocks event next month.
Maggie's mom Michelle Neumann says in just two weeks, Maggie has raised more than $400 for the event.
That's just amazing that she has such a giving heart to want to do that because so many people and so many organizations have helped us," Michelle said.
Maggie is selling her popular Bengals cheesecakes and several different flavors at the coffee shop. All of them were made from Maggie's wheelchair-accessible kitchen at home and from the goodness of her heart.
When asked how she belt being able to give back like this, Maggie only had one word.
"Amazing," Maggie said.
Her message to anyone, with big dreams like her:
Always believe you can do more than you think you can," Maggie said.
If you cannot stop into Just Brew Coffee House, or if you want a bigger order you can order from Maggie online and pick up in Blue Ash. 20% of those sales will still go to the alliance.
