SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WSBT) – Kroger announced Friday that it will be giving special 'Thank You Pay' to hourly workers for working on the frontline during the coronavirus pandemic.
The bonuses are $400 for full time workers and $200 for part time workers. Hourly grocery, supply chain, manufacturing, pharmacy and call center associates all qualify to receive Thank You Pay.
“Our associates have been instrumental in feeding America while also helping to flatten the curve during the initial phases of the pandemic. To recognize and thank our associates for their incredible work during this historic time, we offered special pay in March, April and May,” said Rodney McMullen, Kroger’s chairman and CEO.
The one-time cash bonus will be paid out to all those who qualify in two installments, May 30 and June 18. This will add up to $130 million paid out by Kroger.
The company will also continue its COVID-19 Emergency Leave guidelines to give paid time off to associates affected by the coronavirus or experiencing related symptoms.
According to a release, "the new Thank You Pay of $130 million and extended paid COVID-19 Emergency Leave are in addition to the $700 million the Kroger Family of Companies has invested since March to reward associates and safeguard associates, customers and communities."
