PLEASANT RUN, Ohio (WKRC) - Nearly a dozen kittens were rescued after being dumped like trash in a local park.
Four of the kittens are being fostered by Nancy Buenemann. Buenemann has been fostering kittens for nearly a decade through Purrfect Friends Cat Rescue.
"I retired and just, looking for something to do saw an ad in the paper that somebody needed help socializing kittens,” Buenemann said.
Buenemann said the ones she’s caring for will be ready to adopt in a few weeks but the youngest ones taken in are only around two weeks old and need constant care, including being fed through a syringe.
The kittens were found along the road through Triple Creek Park in Pleasant Run but they weren't found all at once.
Bueneman said a man found them stuffed in a trash bag with four on Saturday and then saw another trash bag with seven more the next day.
If that person hadn't been so observant while driving through the park, Buenemann doesn't think the kittens would've lasted much longer.
She wonders how someone could be so cruel.
"There are so many other options out there. I mean, call the rescues in the area. Call the shelters in the area don't take them and just dump them,” Buenemann said.
All 11 will be spayed or neutered. They will get their first vaccinations and will be implanted with microchips before being adopted.
“Luckily, these were found but it makes you wonder how many others aren't found," Buenemann said.
If you have a cat that needs spayed or neutered there are several options for you, including Ohio Alleycat Resourceand the United Coalition for Animals.
