Kentucky Downs patron wins over $709,000 on penny machine

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- A Kentucky Downs patron won over $709,000 with just a penny on Saturday night.

The racing and entertainment venue located near the Kentucky/Tennessee border features live racing in September but also offers patrons the ability to play simulcast and pari-mutuel wagering (pool) on historical horse racing.

The lucky winner was playing one of those historical race games when he won a record $709,983.

Amber Norris, director of marketing, says the winner did not want to be identified but says he isn't the only winner each month.

“Life-changing money is being won at Kentucky Downs, and there is no shortage of winning happening as we have consistently been paying out more than $2.5 million monthly in jackpots,” Norris said.
