4 people injured after truck carrying hot dogs spills across highway, leaves slippery mess

SHREWSBURY, Pa. (WKRC) — Multiple people were injured after a tractor-trailer collided with another vehicle, spilling thousands of hot dogs across the interstate and causing a large traffic jam.
According to information from police obtained by the Associated Press, a tractor-trailer carrying thousands of hot dogs ran into an unspecified mechanical issue on Interstate 83 and ran into a passenger vehicle in the midst of morning traffic.
During the collision, the truck scraped against a concrete barrier, eventually splitting open and spilling its uncooked contents onto the ground.
"Once those leave the truck and hit the road, that's all garbage, and it's still pretty warm," said Chief Brad Dauberman from the Shrewsbury Fire Company. "I can tell you personally, hot dogs are very slippery. I did not know that."
The clean-up crew had to use a front-end loader to pick up the spill before the hot dogs became a smelly mess in the summer heat.
Dauberman said four people were treated for non-life-threatening injuries at the scene.
