VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. (WGFL) — Deputies in Volusia County, Florida are searching for a man accused of stealing his girlfriend's jewelry; but the story doesn't end there.

Joseph L. Davis, 48, who also goes by the names Joe Brown and Marcus Brown, is wanted for felony grand theft, deputies say. Davis met two women on OKCupid in 2015 and 2016.

While Davis was dating one of the women, he was living with the other, deputies say. At one stage, Davis took jewelry from his then-girlfriend with the intention of proposing to the other woman.

The two women say Davis never gave them his real name and worked together to figure out who he was.

Davis is also wanted on an out-of-state warrant for a hit-and-run crash with injuries, deputies say. Davis is a convicted felon with previous arrests, including for possession of cocaine with intent to sell.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call Detective Wheeler with the Volusia County Sheriff's Office at (386) 668-3830 or Crime Stoppers at 888-277-TIPS.
