DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (WPEC) - A 95-year-old Florida grandmother is facing a charge of battery. Daytona Beach Police say Hattie Reynolds slapped her granddaughter in the face with a slipper last weekend.

Reynolds told police her granddaughter would not get out of bed. After asking her granddaughter to leave the home, Reynolds said the younger woman started screaming and cussing at her, refusing to leave.

The granddaughter told police she was on the phone when her grandmother walked in, asking her to get out of bed. The woman said Reynolds tried to take her phone before slapping her with her slipper.

Reynolds is free on bond.
