HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHP) – What do you do when it’s time to throw out your Christmas tree? They don’t have to go to waste, so how about donating them to a worthy cause?

Batz Farm in Grantville, Pennsylvania, feeds Christmas trees to its 60 goats as a healthy treat.

Owners Mike and Kim Batz say the pine needles provide antioxidants, minerals, nutrients and a natural dewormer for the goats. They eat the needles and the bark, and the remaining tree is made into mulch after.

“It’s better than sending them to a landfill,” Kim said. “They can get recycled and we put them to good use.”
