WASHINGTON (TND) — "That's low-class man. ... That's not cool," NBA legend and Pro-Basketball Hall of Famer, Charles Barkley said about the National Football League's decision to stream a playoff game behind the Peacock app paywall.
Fans across the country shared Barkley's feelings by sounding off on social media, joking, complaining, and spreading the hashtag #BoycottPeacock.
Some fans poked fun with the best go-to memes on the internet like former President Donald Trump saying he "didn't know that."
Others used more topical videos, like the guy in Las Vegas who attacked the judge by leaping over the bench, to show their frustration.
A local police department in Colorado seized the opportunity to remind people to turn in their expired tags while taking a shot at the NFL.
Even though there were lots of jokes, many fans just posted about how angry and disappointed they were with the NFL and Peacock.
"I’m just going to go ahead and say it. The Chiefs - Dolphins game being only available on @peacock is totally ridiculous and a slap in the face to loyal @NFLfans that can’t afford an additional streaming service. And yes, I have peacock. But I hate this move. Awful for fans," X, formerly Twitter, user Chris Santos said.
Barkley's final thought on the matter hit the nail on the head with many.
"The NFL makes $20 billion a year. To screw your fans like that, that's just not cool at all.
