COLUMBIA, S.C. (WACH) — A dog discovered paralyzed on the side of the road is now getting a second chance.

Petunia was found two days before Christmas last year.

The person who found her immediately rushed her to Pawmetto Lifeline in Columbia, South Carolina.

“Didn’t appear to be in any critical condition aside from the fact she could not use her back legs,” said Michael Kokernak with Pawmetto Lifeline.

Nine months later, she’s in a wheelchair, but it hasn’t dampened her spirits.

“She loves attention with the people that she trusts. We’ve never really seen her upset with any human,” said Kokernak.

Pawmetto Lifeline is hoping she will soon have her forever home.

“We would love to find her a permanent home where she can be adored,” said Kokernak.

Pawmetto said Petunia is special needs since her she cannot move her back legs.

“It does require some adjustment to the living situation, but she is a great companion,” said Kokernak.

Her ears were also cut off.

“We have to keep a closer eye on them because they’re not covered, sometimes moisture can get in there,” said Kokernak.

Petunia needs to be in a home without other animals. If you’re interested in adopting her, call (803) 606-4149 or email dwilkinson@pawmettolifeline.org.
