Twohybrid dogs that were captured in a Rhode Island city have a new home.

The Warwick Animal Shelter made the announcement on Friday but did not say where the hybrids now call home.

WJAR spoke to Susan Vogt, of the Red Riding Hood Rescue Project in Middletown, Ohio, a volunteer based nonprofit that will be taking in the two pups.

She said they already have 17 other animals at their rescue property and are ready to welcome the pair.

The dogs, named Libby and Bella, were captured last week after roaming around a neighborhood and attracting attention when they were initially thought to be black coyotes.

But a woman came forward and said the hybrid dogs were her pets. She had left them with someone else when she moved.

A 32-year-old man was accused of setting them free.

The shelter said in a Facebook post that it is looking for someone to donate or lend two extra-large dog crates to move the dogs. It said the crates need to be 48 inches long and plastic, not wire.

This would be the size for a giant breed dog like a mastiff or a Dane,” the post said. “Yes, I know they would fit in smaller crates but I want them to be comfortable and kept clean for their long road trip.”

DNA tests were done on the hybrid dogs, but the results were not yet available.
