Dairy Queen offering free vanilla cones on 1st day of spring

SAN ANTONIO (KABB/WOAI) - The first day of spring is Tuesday, so what better way to celebrate than free ice cream from Dairy Queen?

The restaurant chain is offering a free small vanilla cone Tuesday at several locations, with a limit of one per person.

Unfortunately, mall locations are not participating in the giveaway. This is the fourth year the restaurant chain has participated in this tradition.

Each store that participates will also give customers the opportunity to donate to the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. The non-profit raises money for children's hospitals as well as medical research regarding diseases that specifically affect children.

Dairy Queen isn't the only chain providing free food to celebrate the first day of spring. Rita's Italian Ice will be giving away free Italian Ice at its 600 locations across 31 states. The company expects to give away 1 million cups of Italian ice, according to USA Today.
