Close to $55K worth of fake Air Jordans seized at Dulles International Airport

STERLING, Va. (WJLA) - Authorities at Washington Dulles International Airport say they discovered nearly $55,000 worth of counterfeit Air Jordans that were being shipped to Alexandria.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection says the 400 pairs of the popular shoes were discovered in multiple packages at the airport on Dec. 15, 2017, after they were flown in from China. According to the manufacturer, the shoes could sell for as much as$54,715.

All of the shoes were set to be delivered to the same address.

“Customs and Border Protection will continue to work closely with our trade and consumer safety partners to seize counterfeit and inferior merchandise, especially those products that pose potential harm to American consumers, negatively impact legitimate business brand reputations, and potentially steal jobs from U.S. workers,” said Daniel Mattina, acting port director for the Area Port of Washington, D.C., in a statement.
