Couple says they found worms in their feet after beach vacation

A Canadian couple returned from their beach vacation to find dozens of parasitic worms in their feet, according to a report from CNN.

Eddie Zytner and his girlfriendKatie Stephens had recently taken a trip to the Dominican Republic. A few days after returning home, the couple told CNN what was once an itch turned into swelling and blistering.

Doctors diagnosed the couple withCutaneous larva migrans, according to CNN, which happens when hookworms get into the skin. Both Zytner and Stephens had to use crutches to walk around, due to the pain.

The two posted photos on Facebook, warning anyone taking beach vacations to wear shoes.
