Caught on video: Bike thief takes a break to cuddle with family dog

WASHINGTON (TND) — A man stealing a bike from a home in California couldn't resist cuddles from the family's golden retriever.

The burglar had just stepped out of the garage when the dog came bounding outside wagging its tail.

"Hi, buddy," the man can be heard saying in the surveillance video shared by the San Diego Police Department.

Police said the suspect entered a garage in the Pacific Beach neighborhood and made off with a 2019 black Electra 3-speed bicycle valued at around $1,300.

But before leaving with the unique bike, the man couldn't help but be concerned the dog would run away.

"Where's your dad?" he can be heard saying.“Your dad should know enough not to leave the garage open.”

After the suspect tells the dog he loves him one more time he walks away while the dog watches in confusion.

Police asked the public to send them a message if they recognize the suspect.
