STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. (WJLA) — In the past month, Americans have experienced higher prices when filling up at the gas station.
Authorities say one Virginia man almost faced a charge after he struggled to pay a hefty bill at the gas station, but thankful he returned the next day to pay his bill.
According to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office, on Thursday at 5:14 a.m. Deputy D.T. Aubrecht responded to a MAPCO gas station for a larceny report.
The clerk told Aubrecht that a regular customer had purchased 86 gallons of fuel on March 22 for $416.95 but he was only able to pay a small portion of the bill, leaving a balance of $352.08.
Police say the customer had promised to return to pay the remaining bill, but the clerk was concerned when the customer had not returned by the next day and called the sheriff's office.
When Aubrecht made contact with the customer, the man was already on his way to pay off the balance.
"The tab was subsequently paid and all is well except the price of fuel!" the sheriff's office said.
