BREATHTAKING: Video shows rare 'partial cloud inversion' at snowy Grand Canyon

GRAND CANYON VILLAGE, Ariz. (SBG) — The Grand Canyon National Park took to social media to share a breathtaking video of a "partial cloud inversion" along snowy cliffs.

"View of this morning’s partial cloud inversion from Grand Canyon Village. Canyon cliffs along the rim are snow covered while thick clouds hide the view below," the Grand Canyon National Park wrote on Facebook.

According to My Grand Canyon Park, a "partial cloud inversion" (also referred to as a "temperature inversion") takes place when warm air moves on top of cold air.

The magnificentphenomenon only happens a few times a year and rarely happens in full form.
