ASHEVILE, N.C. (WLOS) — In a recent earnings report, Bojangles' Famous Chicken 'n Biscuits announces that it plans to close 10 restaurants and remove four menu items, including the Cheddar Bo Biscuit.
In the earnings report, Bojangles' indicated it would close the stores "across four states in our adjacent markets," according to The Charlotte Observer. There's no information yet about what, if any, NC stores will be closed.
Bojangles opened a number of new stores outside the Carolinas in recent months, with locations including Alabama, Florida and Washington D.C. However, it appears that those stores may not be doing as well as expected.
Restaurant executives have not yet responded to media requests for more information.
The four items being removed from the menus at company-operated Bojangles restaurants include Jambalaya Bowl, Smoked Sausage Biscuit, Barbecue Pork Sandwich and Cheddar Bo Biscuit.
According to Interim CEO James “Randy” Kibler in the recent report, Bojangles' leadership thinks that removing the items will help "increase the speed of service, raising the quality of our existing menu items and lessening our menu complexity as well as reducing waste.”
Bojangles' was founded in Charlotte in 1977. There are five Bojangles' locations in Asheville, and many more in surrounding areas.
