Portions of Highway 89 are closed through Lassen Volcanic National Park after an estimated four inches of snow fell overnight Friday into Saturday.

The Park says the highway is closed between Sulphur Works and Devastated Area, a stretch approximately 34 miles long, because of the snow. They say more snow is anticipated on Saturday.

Officials warn visitors that even at lower elevations within the park, several roads and trails are wet and slippery.

The park is still in a phased re-opening after the Park Fire forced the closure of the entire park. Once snow is clear from the main park road, it will fully re-open, park officials say.
