CINCINNATI (WKRC) - "Fortnite" is nothing short of a phenomenon in the gaming world. Hundred of millions of people play it worldwide.
Now, they can use that talent to get into college.
The "Battle Royale" last-man-standing game is all the rage among kids and even adults.
So, Ashland University will take advantage of its popularity.
Starting next fall, "Fortnite" players can earn scholarships.
"The eSports program at Ashland is run out of the athletic department. Its intention is to develop gaming skills while at the same time pursing academic success," saidJosh Buchanan, head coach of Ashland eSports.
Ashland is one of 66 colleges and universities that have joined the National Association of Collegiate eSports.
