LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KATV) — A group of Arkansas men broke a state record Friday night after harvesting an alligator that measured 13 feet, 11.5 inches long.

Travis Bearden said he, his father, brother, and best friend harvested the 800-pound gator at Lake Merrisach, just south of Gillett around 11 p.m.

The largest alligator ever harvested in Arkansas was 13 feet, 10 inches long and over 1,380 pounds, according to the Encyclopedia of Arkansas.
