97-year-old birthday girl treats town to a cool surprise with 1,407 ice cream cones

WASHINGTON (TND) — A woman celebrating her 97th birthday also wanted it to be sweet for everyone else.

Pauline Plackemeier bought 1,407 ice cream cones for her community in a birthday tradition that started two years ago, KSHB reported.

Her son and caretaker, Roger, told KSHB that "at 95, you don't have a big celebration but that doesn't mean you can't celebrate big."

Her overall goal is to buy ice cream for her whole town and she is nearly halfway there.

Roger helped her come up with the idea so she can make sure to celebrate her golden years in a special way.

Pauline said she feels blessed.
