87-year-old woman graduates from the University of Alabama

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WPMI) - A University of Alabama graduate is living proof that you're never too old to reach your goals.

Patricia Cassity, 87, graduated from Alabama Friday night.

It's been decades in the making; she started at Alabama back in 1947.

In her last quarter, she felt she was under too much pressure, so she went to Alaska to work for the Air Force. That's where she met her husband and started a family.

Her husband always wanted her to go back and finish her degree but it wasn't possible until recently.

She got a standing ovation when she walked the stage.

Cassity didn't have to do any coursework to get her degree. She had apparently taken everything required for a bachelor of science degree, she just didn't know it.

Her post-graduation plans? She wants to get a job.
