TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) — A girl from Tulsa, Oklahoma is collecting aluminum cans to help her mom pay for ice skating lessons and competitions.

Christina Black says daughter Leah, 7, has been skating since February 2020.

The rink shut down when the coronavirus pandemic hit Oklahoma last March, but has since reopened.

Since the beginning of June, Leah has been skating about five days a week. She also competed on the ice in Dallas at the beginning of June. As Leah continues skating, Christina explained to her it was going to get expensive, especially since she's a single mother.

When Christina mentioned getting a part-time job to help pay for everything, Leah asked if she could help.

So, they brainstormed ideas a 7-year-old could do to raise money, and they landed on aluminum can recycling. Leah and her mom have reached out to all her family, friends and even neighbors for can donations.

If you have aluminum cans you would like to donate, please text Christina at (918) 346-9655.
