An Australian man has shattered the world record for the most pushups done in one hour.

According to a news release from the Guinness Book of World Records,Daniel Scali completed3,249 pushups in an hour, beatingLucas Helmke's record of 3,206.Scali had previously set the record in April 2022 with3,182 pushups.

Guinness guidelines say one complete pushup consists of a person's body being lowered until at least a 90-degree angle is formed by an elbow, then raised until both arms are straight. The person's chest is not required to touch the floor.

Only three of Scali's pushups were disqualified due to improper form.

The 30-year-old fitness fanatic, as Guinness calls him, suffers from complex regional pain syndrome, causing his left arm to be in almost constant pain. He fell off a trampoline at age 12, resulting in a severe break in his left arm.

“It’s the brain sending wrong messages to my arm,” Scali said. “So anything like soft touch, movement, wind, water, will cause me pain.”

Scali wears a compression band to help with the pain, but around the 8-minute mark of his pushup challenge, his arm became more "achy," the release says.

From the top of my shoulder all the way down to my hand I started to feel the burn a bit more, and you’ll actually notice me having to bend down and stretch my arm out to relieve that pain,” Daniel said.

In spite of the hardship, Scali managed to push through the pain and do an average of over 54 pushups per minute.

This isn't the only record Scali has his eye on. He says he's looking to reclaim a record he used to hold: the longest time in an abdominal plank position.

He planked for nine hours and 30 minutes in 2021, but that was one-upped byJosef álek in May 2023, who did it for nine hours and 38 minutes.
