A new Tennessee bill would prohibit cold or refrigerated beer to be sold at retail stores.

SB2636/HB2845 would now allow a beer permittee to sell the alcoholic beverages chilled if passed. Lawmakers believe that is may cut down the number of drunk drivers.

The bill was filed for introduction on Jan. 31 and passed on second consideration and referred to Senate State and Local Government Committee on Feb. 5.

This bill is sponsored bySenator Paul Rose(R-District 32) and Representative Ron Gant (R-District 94).
