COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — A fire department in Ohio opened a time capsule sealed awayover a century agoinside a cornerstone at what was once a fire station.
The copper box was found insidethe old Marion Fire Department station in Columbus that was set to be demolished.
While removing the cornerstone set in 1905, firefighters discovered the metal box.
They opened it Wednesday and revealed what was inside. It included badges from Marion firefighters, a roster for the fire company and for the city government, newspapers from the Marion Daily News from 1905 and a book from the Marion Steam Shovel Company.
Fire officials said they consulted theOhio Historical Society before opening.
