National Volunteer Month takes place in April, according to naitonaldaycalendar.com.

The week is meant to shine light on those who help the community out of love.

Volunteering can be a mighty large task. Volunteers help run organizations, engage the community, and fill specific needs/services of the community.

They do all of this without getting paid.

The week also highlights different opportunities out there for more people to get involved with.

Volunteermatch.org can match a person with an organization that they will feel great about volunteering with.

How to observe this week-long celebration:

  • Thank a volunteer
  • Consider volunteering
  • Share stories about experiences with volunteering
  • Use #NationalVolunteerMonth on social media to share how you celebrated

National Volunteer Week 2023 is taking place from April 16th through the 22nd.

The week-long observance was created in 1974 in a Presidential Proclamation, said the website.

President George H.W. Bush established the month-long observance in 1991.
