February is National Snack Food Month, and it promotes healthy snacking, according to nationaldaycalendar.com.

Snacking is an important part of our day to keep our energy up, so it's important to make sure those snacks are ashealthy as possible.

Here are some popular healthy snacks:

  • Mixed nuts
  • Any fruits or vegetables
  • Veggies with hummus
  • Cottage cheese
  • Healthy beef jerky
  • Celery with peanut butter
  • Greek yogurt with granola
  • Dark chocolate with almonds
  • Hard-boiled eggs
  • Protein shakes
  • Fruit smoothies


How to take place in the month-long observation:

  • Share your favorite healthy snack
  • Look into health benefits of snacking healthy
  • Look into healthy benefits of different snack foods
  • Try new snacks
  • Use #NationalSnackFoodMonth or #SnackFoodMonth on social media to share how you celebrated


The National Snack Food Association and the National Potato Promotion Board created the month in 1989 to promote healthy snacking and raise awareness of the benefits of healthy snacking, said the website.
