Endometriosis Awareness Week 2023 runs from March 3 through March 9, according to nationaldaycalendar.com.

The observance shines light on the need for more research and treatment options for the over 6.5 million women suffering from this debilitating disorder.

The disorder is where tissue like endometrial tissue which is the inner lining of the uterus moves to other areas of the body.

Most areas the tissue moves to are the Fallopian tubes and the ovaries, but there have been other places it will go.

Not only does the tissue move, but the endometrial-like cells can move to other parts of the body as well.

This causes women to have horrible symptoms like:

  • Extreme pelvic pain
  • Cysts
  • Heavy periods
  • Bleeding in between periods
  • Infertility

With this in mind, it is very important to continue research and find more options for treatment.

How to take part in this observance:

  • Donate to research on endometriosis
  • Learn more about the disorder
  • Share your story about your battle with it
  • Be supportive to those you know who have it
  • Use #EndometriosisAwarenessWeek or #EndoMarch on social media to help spread the word

The week-long observance always takes place the week of March 8 which is International Women's Day, said the website.

March is also Endometriosis Awareness Month.
