BYRON CENTER, Mich. — Donald Trump's Vice President pick, JD Vance, slammed VP Kamala Harris during his speech to supporters in Michigan.
Vance brought up how many Americans are struggling to afford goods and blamed Harris.
The GOP nominee said, "Inflation is a disaster. Kamala Harris doesn't have a leg to stand on" while he visited Byron Center.
Inflation dipped below 3% for the first time since March 2021, according to July's consumer price index report.
Economic experts believe the data should keep the Federal Reserve on track to cut its main interest rate at its next meeting in September.
Vance thinks keeping Harris in the White House for another four years won't help the economy.
"What she actually did, what the actual record is, is that she inflicted the American people with the worst affordability and inflation crisis in generations," said Vance.
Wednesday's visit is the the Ohio senator's third visit to the battle ground state.
Vance's speech also focused on crime and immigration policies.
"As America's border cazar, she did something maybe even worse, flooding this country with millions of cheap illegal alien laborers, stealing your jobs, depressing our wages in the process," Vance pointed out.
He also brought up a "Big Three" automaker who recently announced it was going to lay off around more than 2,000 workers later this year.
"Kamala has done nothing. Now remember when Donald Trump, when American businesses threatened to shut down factories and move them to Mexico and China, remember what Trump did? He picked up the phone and said, 'If you do that, I'm going to introduce you to a little word called the tariff.'"
Vance also accused Harris of sending American tax dollars to China.
The campaign stop in West Michigan is representative of constituents that both, the Trump-Vance and Harris-Walz campaigns, are targeting.
"It's an important part of the state, and honestly it's an important part of the country. It's a privilege to be bugged by these candidates because we are a pivotal place, now a swing place for the presidential election," Doug Koopman, a political scientist at Calvin University told WZZM.
Gov. Tim Walz stormed through a series of battleground states with Vice President Kamala Harris last week to introduce himself to voters nationally. The two held rallies in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, Arizona and Nevada.
Walz is expected to address fundraisers in Denver, Colorado and Boston, Massachusetts Wednesday, followed by Newport, Rhode Island and Southampton, New York on Thursday, the Associated Press reported.
